Proposal: Take Your Book to Market
You’ve done the work to outline your nonfiction book and you have a clear plan to write it. Now it’s time to get your idea ready for market with a book proposal.
What it is: One-on-one coaching to help you develop a business case for why readers will want to buy your book.
Agents and publishers require a book proposal. It spells out what your book will say and it describes your audience and how you plan to connect with them. A proposal equips agents with a sales tool they can take to publishers. Authors who work directly with publishers also use a proposal to sell their book idea. And if you plan to self-publish, a proposal provides you with a head start on writing your book a built-in plan to reach your audience.
This is for you if: You have completed a blueprint for your nonfiction book, or you have equivalent materials.
How it works: After an introductory meeting to review the status of your materials, we will set a schedule for you to work on your book proposal elements. You will receive feedback on your work-in-progress during scheduled meetings. All meetings will be on Zoom.
Working with Blueprint for a Nonfiction Book by Jennie Nash, we will review your responses to such questions as:
Who will want to read your book?
What other titles speak to these readers?
How will you plan to market your book?
What you will get: A polished book proposal ready to take to market, complete with:
An analysis that explains who will want to read your book and why
A table of contents
Two sample chapters
A list of comparable book titles
A marketing plan
